We designed the 22 VLX to give you a choice of watersport possibilities. Choose a sport-specific hull: Diamond hull for multisport wakes, or Wake Plus for the absolute best wakes and waves. Either way, there's room for up to 14, and you can step up to our most powerful engine, the supercharged Monsoon V8, with a massive 575 HP. The 22 VLX is an eye-catcher on the water and a great handler, with room and fun for the whole family.
Malibu’s Integrated Surf Platform combines an array of our innovations to create the perfect wake and wave suitable whether you are a beginner, a Professional, or anywhere in between. The ISP starts with performance hulls and swim boards tailored to each boat model. From there it builds in several industry-firsts, including the unique and patented Surf Gate that transforms a perfect watersports wake into a surfable and customized wave.
The ISP’s Quad Hard-Tank Ballast system lets you add up to 2,270 kgs of wake-creating ballast (depending on the model) at the tap of your finger on one of the dual touch-screens forming our Command Center.
Also at your command, Malibu’s Power Wedge II, our second-generation patented hydrofoil, adds up to 680 kgs of additional wake-generating water displacement.
For the last word in wake and wave control, the Malibu ISP puts it right in the surfer’s hands with the patented Surf Band wrist remote. Easily transfer with the use of Surf Band, as well as audio and visual signaling.

TRUE WAKE AND WAVE CREATION | Deploying the hydraulically actuated Power Wedge II is like adding up to 1,500 lbs (680 kgs) of additinal wake-creating water displacement. It happens at the tap of the driver's finger on the Command Center, or the surfer wearing the optional Malibu Surf Band wrist remote can adjust it right from the water.
Compared to our original Power Wedge, the Power Wedge II creates a more symmetrical wake that's also taller, longer and cleaner. The hydrofoil's upward angle increases lift to get the boat planing very quickly, which also helps reduce fuel consumption. Malibu's Power Wedge II is the only wake shaping device in the industry that gives you full versatility and infinite wake-and-wave-making abilities.

All the performance benefits of the Monsoon 6.2L 450 High Output engine with the added protection of Indmar’s SaltWater Series, which has been extensively tested and developed to withstand corrosive environments.
Each Indmar SaltWater Series inboard and its associated parts receive an advanced electro-coated dip (E-coat) process that provides complete protection against corrosion. E-coat completely covers both external and internal surfaces, creating a permanent paint to metal bond. And unlike paint and powder coat used by some competitors E-coat will not peel, will not crack and corrosion will not permeate it.
Indmar SaltWater Series cooling systems are completely closed loop systems. That means salt water will never enter the engine system or the exhaust manifolds.
Indmar's cooling systems use only propylene-glycol/water coolant driven through a corrosion resistant engine circulating pump. Coolant tanks are easily accessible for filling and sacrificial anodes are featured for extended life. Indmar confidently backs each SaltWater Series engine with the same three-year limited warranty.

The Monsoon 575 CAT is the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine for the marine industry.The 6.2L SuperCharged Monsoon 575 V-8′s credentials speak for themselves; however, with 545 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, the 575 leaves the competition behind with it’s perfect blend of high-rev horsepower and low-rev torque.

Gen VI SuperCharger with Twin Four-Lobe Rotors
A state-of-the-art supercharger is key to the Monsoon 575's remarkable performance. This Gen IV small-block V-8 is equipped with Eaton’s Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharging technology. The Monsoon 572 supercharger displaces 1.9 liters and generates maximum boost pressure of 9.0 pounds per square inch (0.62 bar).
A supercharger is essentially an air pump driven by the engine’s crankshaft. It forces more air into the engine’s combustion chambers than that engine could otherwise draw on its own. The increased volume of oxygen allows the engine to efficiently process more fuel, and thus generate more power.
The TVS takes supercharging technology to new levels of refinement and efficiency. Each of its two rotors has four distinct lobes, or spiral-shaped vanes that inter-mesh precisely with those on the other rotor as they spin at high speed. Efficiency gains with the four-lobe rotors are substantial, compared to comparably sized, previous-generation superchargers: Approximately 20 percent more airflow, with an improvement in thermal efficiency up to 15 percent. Moreover, parasitic power loss-the amount of power the engine uses to operate the supercharger-is reduced 35 percent. That improves both the supercharger’s response time and the engine’s overall efficiency.
An advanced inter-cooling system increases the 6.2L Monsoon 575's performance and extends its supercharger’s benefits. The engine’s charge cooler is integrated in the supercharger case just above the rotors, with a single air-to-liquid cooling “brick” that substantially lower the temperature of air used in the combustion process.

The 22 VLX is an instant classic because it takes the best parts of the old 21 VLX and adds a little more length and a lot more features. Aesthetically, this boat has always looked amazing and it’s no different after the redesign. The classic traditional bow looks sleek on the water, and it doesn’t matter whether you pick the G3 or G4 tower, they both complement the look of this stylish and high-performing boat. One of the biggest changes with the redesign is the new dash. A center 12-inch touchscreen has your main functions, and the 7-inch secondary screen lets you tweak things, like your backlight brightness and throttle sensitivity. The Wakesetter 22VLX is a quintessential Malibu wakeboat. From the hull shape to the interior layout, it pays tribute to the classic design that makes a Malibu a Malibu.
At the helm, the technology and amenities are all what you would expect from a high-end Malibu: a 12-inch center touchscreen to control your major tasks, a smaller touchscreen on the right side for deeper functionality, and the control dial on the left to easily manage the settings you use the most.
At slower speeds, with or without weight, this boat can shape up wakes suited for beginners up to expert riders, and it rarely curls. Surf Gate provides an epic surf wave on either side of the boat, and it does so really well behind this hull.
The VLX is one of our favorite options for someone who’s interested in a hull that will shape up clean wakes for a wide variety of riders. It has classic styling and innovative technology, and at 22 feet, it’s right in the sweet spot in terms of size for a wakeboat.
