Malibu’s Integrated Surf Platform combines an array of our innovations to create the perfect wake and wave suitable whether you are a beginner, a Professional, or anywhere in between. The ISP starts with performance hulls and swim boards tailored to each boat model. From there it builds in several industry-firsts, including the unique and patented Surf Gate that transforms a perfect watersports wake into a surfable and customized wave.
The ISP’s Quad Hard-Tank Ballast system lets you add up to 2,270 kgs of wake-creating ballast (depending on the model) at the tap of your finger on one of the dual touch-screens forming our Command Center.
Also at your command, Malibu’s Power Wedge II, our second-generation patented hydrofoil, adds up to 680 kgs of additional wake-generating water displacement.
For the last word in wake and wave control, the Malibu ISP puts it right in the surfer’s hands with the patented Surf Band wrist remote. Easily transfer with the use of Surf Band, as well as audio and visual signaling.

New for 2017, the G3.5 tower offers outstanding value without sacrificing renowned Malibu quality. It's got all you need for fun and safety on the water, including a new easy latching solution, powerful lights, stainless-steel hoops and anodized and powder-coated components. The G3.5 introduces a new latch design, new LED tower and anchor lights and optional side pull points for surfing.
On both towers, you'll find Malibu's renowned attention to detail in every part. Our aerospace-grade anodised aluminium swivel board racks are corrosion-resistant and ratchet down with the slightest tug on a single lever, securing any board. Wakeboarding Magazine called these "the best board racks ever."
To give the rider a dynamite soundtrack, option the G3.5 with the swivel-mounted, high fidelity G-Force Wet Sounds speakers.

TRUE WAKE AND WAVE CREATION | Deploying the hydraulically actuated Power Wedge II is like adding up to 1,500 lbs (680 kgs) of additinal wake-creating water displacement. It happens at the tap of the driver's finger on the Command Center, or the surfer wearing the optional Malibu Surf Band wrist remote can adjust it right from the water.
Compared to our original Power Wedge, the Power Wedge II creates a more symmetrical wake that's also taller, longer and cleaner. The hydrofoil's upward angle increases lift to get the boat planing very quickly, which also helps reduce fuel consumption. Malibu's Power Wedge II is the only wake shaping device in the industry that gives you full versatility and infinite wake-and-wave-making abilities.

Each Indmar SaltWater Series inboard and its associated parts receive an advanced electro-coated dip (E-coat) process that provides complete protection against corrosion. E-coat completely covers both external and internal surfaces, creating a permanent paint to metal bond. And unlike paint and powder coat used by some competitors E-coat will not peel, will not crack and corrosion will not permeate it.
Indmar SaltWater Series cooling systems are completely closed loop systems. That means salt water will never enter the engine system or the exhaust manifolds.
Indmar's cooling systems use only propylene-glycol/water coolant driven through a corrosion resistant engine circulating pump. Coolant tanks are easily accessible for filling and sacrificial anodes are featured for extended life. Indmar confidently backs each SaltWater Series engine with the same three-year limited warranty.

While the 21 VLX shines in all phases, it’s the wake it produces that sets it apart. All new for 2017, this 21-foot crossover produces a wave with the quality to compete with the best boats out there. It comes standard with the Integrated Surf Platform, including the wake-optimized hull design, Quad Hard Tank Ballast system, Power Wedge II hydrofoil and the revolutionary Surf Gate. The all-new G3.5 tower comes standard, too. Throw in the trailer and the 21 VLX becomes an absolute steal for the surfing set.
Our staff’s wakesurfing experts were amazed that a boat this size can throw such a long and powerful wave, but, like Malibu says, the truth is on the water. We were really impressed with the length of the pocket on the 21 VLX. We were able to drop back so unbelievably far and the wave still had a ton of push, an uncommon trait for a smaller-size boat. But because of the Surf Gate, combined with the Power Wedge II, all the boats in the 2017 Malibu lineup throw clean, consistent and massive waves. And with Surf Band, which you wear on your wrist while surfing behind the boat, you can control and tweak the wave to your liking while out on the water. The driver can easily command all settings from the 12-inch in-dash touchscreen display, as well as the smaller 7-inch display at the helm.
While the 21 VLX shines at 11 mph surf speeds with full ballast, it’s no slouch when it’s time to empty the tanks and climb onto plane. With no ballast in the hull, we were able to push it onto plane in 4.3 seconds en route to an almost 41 mph top speed, very speedy for an inboard-powered tow boat. The open-bow cockpit and wraparound benches in the main cockpit can accommodate up to 13 people, so the whole crew can get in on the action, be it surfing, skating or cruising around the local lake. Sometimes you really can do it all.
